Passport Validity in Costa Rica

Passport expire in less than 6 months?  Don’t let that stop you!

My son’s passport expires in July. I had thought that we could still go to our intended summer destination in Europe this year as long as we returned to the States before his passport expired… given that we couldn’t get a passport meeting or a replacement passport in time. However, with this particular country requiring passport validity for 6 months, we had to change travel destinations altogether. We chose a country that only required passport validity for the duration of the stay.  Problem solved. 

Are you in a similar situation?  I am happy to report that Costa Rica requires passport validity only for the duration of the traveler’s stay.
