There are a host of wonderful dining options at Peninsula Papagayo. The dozen or so options are all great, whether you venture over to the Prieta Beach Club for my personal favorite octopus dish, or saunter to Nemare at the golf clubhouse for incredible steak dishes, or hang out in the lounge-y area of Anejo at the Four Seasons where you can choose from several restaurant menus. While I love Chao Peso, the tapas restaurant at the Andaz Hotel, I never really took the time to return to Ostra. I had been once, in the very early days, and never returned.
However, I recently took the golf cart drive over there to see how last year’s renovation of Ostra turned out, and to try the new menu with my food savvy teenagers. Wow, I’m glad I did! Ostra flaunts a top-to-tail renovation with a new look, new head chef, and a host of new dishes. It is a 100% turnaround from my original experience and we loved it!
Ostra capitalizes on tropical sophistication with natural elements, airy al fresco dining spaces, and sweeping bay views and surrounding lush vegetation. We even saw a monkey foraging in the nearby tree!
Whether celebrating a special occasion with loved ones or simply seeking a memorably meal, Ostra caters to all occasions. It is also an ideal spot for families with older children who are comfortable with more upscale dining settings. The restaurant’s ambiance and menu cater to a refined taste, making it a memorable experience for kids who have developed an appreciation for gourmet cuisine.
The seating is comfortable, the views are lovely, overlooking the adults-only pool and the sea beyond. There was something for everyone for dinner. My favorite was the scallops, but there are a lot of great options to try… and to return for!
Chef Bruno came out to say hello and see how we were enjoying the meal.
During your next stay with us, I highly recommend indulging in their culinary delights and immersing yourself in the stunning ambiance of Ostra. You’ll be back… I know I will!
