We have a new alliance with Raw Botanicals, a local Costa Rican company that makes premium, earth-friendly, 100% organic spa products. We chose to allign ourselves with Raw Botanicals for a number of reasons. First, all of the companies that we were considering had to meet the following criteria:
- company must be from Costa Rica
- product must be organic
- product must work!
Raw Botanicals fit the bill in all of these criteria. However, what really impressed us, is that in addition to making a wonderful product, Raw Botanicals is dedicated to making the world a better place by changing the way we all consume body products. Instead of using trial sizes of shampoos, which cause an enormous amount of waste, we (and you) are reducing our carbon footprint by being part of their refill movement. During your stay with Papagayo Luxury, each bath product is offered in a large 16 oz bottle. This insures that you won’t run out during your stay, and also minimizes the waste of the small bottles generally offered by hotels.
To take it a step further, Raw Botanicals uses 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles using 25% post consumer recycled PET bottles. This alone decreases your individual carbon footprint by up to 90%.
To give you a little bit of history, the husband/wife team simultaneously launched Costa Rica’s first organic day spa, Spa Una, and also began creating spa products to match a raw food diet and organic lifestyle. They initially launched their emerging product line under the “Raw” label. What began as a small line of handmade products for Spa Uno, over time, expanded to become a full line of handmade organic lotions, facial products and other gift items, and “Raw Botanicals” was born in 2002. This product range is hand made, fully biodegradable and sustains a wide range of local fair trade farming families.
For your stay at one of our villas at Papagayo Luxury, we offer you more product during your stay for a more luxurious and eco-friendly offering. We offer Raw Botanical’s ylang ylang shampoo, banana glistening hair balm (conditioner), papagayo tangerine body wash, citrus hand soap, and mango dream cream (body lotion).
