Calling all beer aficionados! If you’re looking to unwind after a round of golf, tennis or pickleball, you’ll love the brand new Tap House at Peninsula Papagayo. Just a few minutes away from your Papagayo Luxury vacation villa, it’s located right next to the tennis courts and golf course on the resort.
Papagayo Luxury founder, Jane, tried out the Tap House for the first time on one of her recent visits to the area. We spoke to her to see what we can expect, and some top tips on the best beers to try while you’re here.
What’s the best thing about the Tap House?
This place has such a relaxed vibe about it. In fact, Peninsula Papagayo designed it with the idea of community in mind. So, it’s the perfect place to kick back with your friends and family as you catch up about everything you’ve been up to over the course of the day. And, if you’re staying with us for a little longer, you may also find yourself making new connections with some of the other guests too. It’s a very welcoming space.
When is the best time to visit?
It’s open daily from 11am to 7pm, so it’s really up to you. But I would recommend going late afternoon once you’ve had a go at some of the many activities on offer here.
Tell us more about the brewery itself.
All of the beers sold here have been locally crafted over at the Papagayo Brewing Company. Choose from Beach Lager, Tropical IPA, Passion Fruit Ale, Sour Gose, Peninsula Pilsner and a range of seasonal options. My favorite was definitely the Sour Gose, alongside my Kobe Beef Burger. What a delicious combo!
What kind of food is on offer?
The menu is small, but well thought out. You can expect to sample a little street food, Costa Rican style. Think: tacos, burgers and a few mouth-watering vegetarian options.
Do you need to make a reservation?
They don’t take reservations over at the Tap House, it’s run on a first-come, first serve basis. There’s a delightful variety of cozy seating set against a vibrant jungle backdrop, so you’ll be able to take your pick from bar stools to tables under shady trees. And if you can’t find a seat straight away, you can always try your hand at a game of pickleball while you’re waiting!
