Our personal concierge has planned countless itineraries for our guests, and here is our top way to start organizing your trip to Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica. Of course, everything depends on your group… is this an all-adult group, or maybe a family group? Your itinerary will adjust based on the ages of the guests and the adventure level that the individuals are seeking. This sample itinerary is a good start to your stay, and then we will mix in the other items that can vary based on the group.
What are some of the key components to the ideal vacation? For most of our guests, the food and the adventures are the most important parts, once they determined their exact rental home.
Food: Private Chef Services, Restaurants, Self-Catering
For large groups of multiple families that would be staying in one of our 5 bedroom villas, our guests tend to enjoy the convenience of having a private chef come in daily to prepare breakfast. While the hotels also have breakfast options, virtually none of our guests opt to do this, choosing either the private chef or making breakfast on their own.
We recommend eating at the Prieta Beach Club, either at Olas or Manglar for lunch, if you enjoying the club that day, or you can have lunch close to your off-site adventure… or at the Dive Bar if you are getting off of a fishing boat docked at the Papagayo Marina.
For dinner, our guests will choose either a personal chef, make dinner themselves, or go out to one of the dozen restaurant options at the resort. There are some special days at the restaurants, such as the Beach BBQ at the Prieta Beach Club, or their “Al Espeto” night.
Adventures vs Relaxation
The other key component to your Costa Rica vacation is your quest for adventure, or pure relaxation.
While there are numerous adventures that you can enjoy, we always recommend a half or full day at sea enjoying the numerous boat-access-only beaches on Peninsula Papagayo or nearby. This is a great opportunity to look for sea life, like whales, dolphins, flying rays, and sea turtles. We also love the opportunity to anchor off of one of the small beaches and grab a stand up paddle board or snorkels and tool around right from your yacht. There is light fishing available on most boats, as well, if you don’t want to go out on a dedicated fishing boat.
We also like the Rincon de la Vieja National Park area for their variety of sport options, from the self propelled (think hiking, horseback riding) vs ATVs, and zippiness, mud baths, and more.
Based on guests desires, we can fill in with whitewater rafting, surfing excursions, wildlife spotting excursions, and more.
And there are wide variety of activities and adventures that are right onsite at Peninsula Papagayo. These activities include things like cycling tours, ziplines and a ropes course, night hikes, monkey spotting, birdwatching, kayaking, SUP, snorkeling, coral “gardening”, and much more!
